What is the best way to store Flint River Ranch foods once they have been opened?
The care and storage of all-natural products is different from other products. The packaging that Flint River Ranch products come in is more than sufficient for continued storage upon opening. However, additional care needs to be taken once your shipment is received. Keep products in their original bags. Once opened, roll down the bag to expel the excess air, then place it into a bug-proof container that can be sealed and placed up off the floor in a cool, dry area, away from temperature variations, moisture and direct sunlight. We do not recommend that product bags and boxes be kept on a cement or garage floor.
If you prefer to empty the bags into a container, the container should be washed and dried each time it is refilled with a new product. New food placed on old crumbs will only lead to decay and bacteria build-up. While it is well known that all-natural foods greatly attract bugs and bacteria, with these simple steps your Flint River Ranch products will stay fresh and viable for the needs of your pets until your next shipment.
Food stored in "air-tight" containers will sweat. The same as if you were in a warm room without any air movement. Natural foods attract moisture quickly - which can turn to mildew spoilage overnight in summer weather or in high humidity areas. Pet food needs some air circulation, the same as any other food. Properly stored, natural pet food will have a quality shelf life of 5 to 6 months.
What about moths, bugs, insects and worms?
The heat in the manufacturing process destroys any potential insect eggs that might be attached to grain after the cleaning process. During manufacture, the food travels through stainless steel to a sealed hopper and is immediately sealed in the bag.
If food is not properly stored after purchase, or if the bag is left open, it will attract all types of ants, bugs and flying insects that lay eggs in the rich, chemical-free food. In an extremely short time, within days, these eggs will turn into worms and moths. This problem appears in all pet food, however, it is more frequent in natural pet foods. The same thing happens to any food or vegetables that are not properly stored.
Bug and insect attraction is greatly increased in warmer summer weather and in high humidity areas - usually within 45 to 60 days of purchase. Pet parents with an insect, worm or moth problem should consider changing their method of storage (see above).

How Long Will My Order Take to Reach me?
We endeavor to process and ship all orders received before noon within 24 hours. Orders received on Friday, or the day before a Holiday, are invoiced and shipped the next business day. Orders are shipped to the address on file by UPS. Cut-off for UPS daily pickup is usually 3 pm. Please keep your address current. To insure faster delivery, orders are transferred electronically to the Flint River Ranch distribution center nearest you. Average delivery time, after UPS pickup, is 2 to 4 business days. With some remote delivery points, UPS may schedule delivery only once or twice a week. Please order in advance of need and allow time for delivery.

Regardless of professional advice, it is up to each pet owner to read and understand pet food labels. Much of the widely advertised pet food contains by-products and the remains from the human garbage chain with harmful chemical additives.

You have several options:

4) Another option is the Bank Draft Plan. Rather than waiting for your mailed check to be received and order shipped - we can immediately process a phone, FAX or an 800 toll-free order under the Bank Draft Plan. It is the same process that is used when a check is mailed for payment. Under the Bank Draft Plan - using standard bank encoding equipment and bank codes, we create a bank draft for payment, deposit it to our account as your regular check and it appears in your bank statement for your records. Bank Drafts are recognized under all Federal and State banking laws that apply to checks and checking accounts.
Shipping is included for all orders over $8.00. Please add $4.00 for orders under $8.00.
What is your return policy?
If you are not completely satisfied with your order for any reason, you will be refunded 100% of the purchase price if returned within 30 days of product receipt.
Orders cannot be cancelled after they have been shipped. Customer assumes responsibility for freight costs of shipments refused and returned. Shipments refused at time of delivery and returned by UPS will receive 100% of purchase price refund, less the shipping costs one-way.
If you receive a shipment that is noticeably damaged: (1) refuse the shipment and have it returned to Flint River Ranch for replacement; (2) if the shipment was left while you were out, call UPS (1-800-742-5877) and advise them that you are refusing the damaged shipment, and they will pick it up. Flint River Ranch will replace all damaged products and handle the UPS claim.
While UPS does their very best to insure prompt delivery of all boxes, sometimes shipments are lost or delayed. If you feel a shipment has been lost or delayed and you reach our voice-mail, please leave your full name, day-time phone #, assigned FRR # and request a trace. If UPS advises they have the shipment on the way for delivery, no action is taken. If UPS advises they cannot find the shipment, we will replace and ship a duplicate order. You will recive a call-back notice and we will handle the claim with UPS. If we have no record of receiving the order, we will call back for clarification.
